Bear viewing and fly outs
Fly out to Wolverine Creek and fish beside the brown bears
A fully guided Talon Air fly-out for sockeye and silvers with brown bears working the rocks beside you, and a flight home over the glaciers.
Chapter 01
Sockeye with the bears on the rocks
Many of our guests want to see the more remote parts of Alaska and nature at its purest, and a fly-out is how we do it. In June and July we send you to the pristine waters of Wolverine Creek and Big River Lakes. Looking down into the clear water you can see thousands of sockeye salmon.
Catching them is an easy chore and the bear viewing is hard to top. Your fur-covered fishing partners wait on the nearby rocks for their turn at the same fish. Pictures cannot tell you what it feels like to fish alongside brown bears. You are fully guided the whole day.

Flying with Talon Air
We use Talon Air for all of our flying needs. They are very well known for their safety, extensive knowledge and excellent pilots, and that is why we have trusted them with our guests.
You cross Cook Inlet aboard a floatplane and fish untouched rivers. Late July through August the target shifts to silver salmon at Big River Lakes and the Kustatan River. Depending on the day and the season, trips can also turn to char, rainbows, northern pike, grayling or pure sightseeing.
Chapter 03
The flight home is half the trip
The trip is not over when the rods are put away. On the flight home the pilot takes you over the glaciers and Mount Redoubt Volcano. One guest told us it felt like the wing tips were going to hit the glacier.
A fly-out is an add-on to a lodge package, starting at $825.00 per person plus tax. It is the one day of the week you leave the Kenai behind, and it ends back on the river bank with a story the cabin porch will want to hear. Ask about it when you plan your stay on the rates page.
