Seward multi-species

Resurrection Bay silvers, ling cod and rockfish out of Seward

All-day Seward charters starting July 1: silver salmon, ling cod, yelloweye and rockfish between glaciers and open water.

Chapter 01

Glaciers, wildlife and a full rod bend

Pristine glaciers, marine wildlife and fishing beyond compare: that is what a day out of Seward gives you. Starting July 1, we take our fleet of offshore cruisers into Resurrection Bay and the Gulf of Alaska for silver salmon, ling cod, sea bass, red snapper and rockfish.

Seward is a two hour drive from the lodge and these are all-day charters. Guests have been coming back yearly after seeing how much silver salmon and bottom fish there is to catch.

Silvers on every rod

Everyone loves a double header, two fish on at once. Aboard our 28’ Madeira offshore cruisers in Seward, imagine all six anglers with fish on. We call that a daily occurrence, not a rare one.

Our captains mooch cut-plug herring and put you into huge schools. The silvers run 10 to 20 pounds and the limit is 3 to 6 fish, so the action is fast and furious. A few cranks up, a fluttering rod tip, and fish on.

Chapter 03

Ling cod, yelloweye and the bottom

For bottom fish people, these trips go after monster ling cod. They are by far the ugliest fish in Alaskan waters and some of the best eating. Ling cod are caught up to 60 pounds, with the average at 30 to 45.

The same grounds produce giant yelloweye, which many people know as red snapper, plus black sea bass and other rockfish. We use lead-headed jigs and plastic grubs on medium weight rods, which keeps it workable for anglers of every skill level.

We do not target halibut on these charters, but we catch many all season. If halibut is the point of your trip, see our Cook Inlet boats on the halibut page.

Insured and licensed guides, limited entry permits for these fisheries. Call 1-800-625-2324.
